BRIAN KING

Your Name.....Brian King

DOB.....March 1943

Place of Birth.....Cairns

Your Fondest Memory of the time.....

The only time I ever beat Dave Prickett was over 400 meters at the University Sports Oval, we were there as part of Squash Training.

Your best achievement on court, as most of us wouldn't have won Open Titles or represented the State, maybe list some of your Pennant wins or Club Titles.....

I was part of 5 winning Pennant teams, A3, A2 and 3 A1 Pennants. In 1967 I was runner up to Joe McKenna in the 2nd Division of the club championships. Was also the Bridesmaid in 2 handicap tournament finals, 1968 lost to Joe Williams and in 1969 lost to Ken Fraser. Was a member of the Gabba Team that won the A Grade State titles in Townsville in 1976.

Did you venture into administration or coaching or refereeing or managing teams or played Masters Squash.....No

Who do you admire as the person who has either achieved great things on court or shaped the game off court.....

Don Chilcott was a great member of Boomerang/Gabba, If there was any jobs that had to be done, Don was always the first to volunteer.

Funniest moment you remember.....

No 1. Peter Land scoring, the following couple of incidents where not funny at the time, but Crispo never let me forget them, and we all had plenty of laughs when Bill brought them up from time to time. When playing Cricket for Queensland Colts against Nsw Colts in Sydney, I dropped at least 3 catches while fielding in slips in the 1st hour of play. After lunch while attempting to field a ball, I had a fall and done my Cartilage and had to be taken to Hospital, spent the rest of the match as a spectactor.

What are you doing now. As a lot of us would be now retired, list some facts about your working life.....

My first job was for Evans Deakin as an office boy, and then became a Public Servant and worked in the Government for the rest of my working life. Now retired and live up Caloundra way.

Did you get married, have kids.....

No, No

Anything else you think people might find interesting.....

Postcript.

Boomerang is the only club I have been associated with where irrespective of playing ability or back ground members were prepared to engage both on the court and socially.
